How to request a correction

Use the contact page and include the article title or URL, the statement you believe is inaccurate, why it is inaccurate, and supporting evidence where possible. We review good-faith requests regardless of whether the requester is named in the story.

How we respond

We examine the published wording and underlying sources, consult the writer or reviewer when useful, and seek additional evidence when facts remain disputed. We do not promise a particular outcome, but we aim to assess material requests promptly.

Correction labels

• Correction: fixes a factual error that affected the story.
• Clarification: improves wording that was accurate but could reasonably be misunderstood.
• Update: adds important information that emerged after publication.
• Editor’s note: explains an unusual editorial issue or substantial change.

What we do not erase

Substantial corrections remain visible. We do not normally remove accurate published information simply because it later becomes inconvenient. Removal may be considered for legal, safety, privacy or serious fairness reasons.
