DISCOVERY FOR MORE PEOPLE
Accessibility Statement
Barnakle wants its stories and services to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for as many people as reasonably possible.
Our standard
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as our working reference. Accessibility is an ongoing practice rather than a one-time certification.
What we work toward
- Keyboard-accessible navigation and visible focus states.
- Logical headings, landmarks and reading order.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Captions or transcripts for relevant audio and video.
- Sufficient colour contrast and interfaces that do not rely on colour alone.
- Readable text, responsive layouts and clear form labels and errors.
Third-party content
Some embedded, archived or third-party material may not yet meet the same standard. We consider accessibility when choosing providers and seek practical alternatives where possible.
Feedback and assistance
If you encounter a barrier, contact Barnakle with the page URL, a description of the problem, and your browser, device or assistive technology if comfortable sharing it. We will assess the issue and aim to provide an accessible alternative where reasonably possible.
Continuous improvement
We review templates, navigation and publishing practices as Barnakle grows. Significant recurring barriers are prioritised based on impact, frequency and feasibility.
