SITE TERMS

Terms of Use

These terms govern access to Barnakle and are intended to keep the publication useful, lawful and safe for readers and contributors.

Last updated September 9, 2026
Independent review recommended: these practical terms are a strong publishing foundation, but they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer familiar with Barnakle’s ownership, location and services.
01

Acceptance and changes

By accessing Barnakle, you agree to these terms and applicable laws. If you do not agree, do not use the site. We may update these terms as services change; continued use after an update means the revised terms apply.

02

Educational content

Barnakle content is provided for general information and education. It is not personal medical, legal, financial, safety or other professional advice. Information may become outdated, and external sources may change.

03

Permitted use

You may access and share links to Barnakle for lawful personal use. You may not disrupt the site, evade security, scrape at a harmful scale, misrepresent affiliation, introduce malicious code, unlawfully collect user information, or reproduce substantial content without permission.

04

Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, Barnakle’s original text, design, branding and media are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party material remains subject to its owner’s rights and licence terms. Limited quotation and linking may be permitted by law but does not transfer ownership.

05

Submissions

You must have the right to send material to Barnakle. Unless separately agreed, a submission is non-confidential and grants Barnakle permission to review, store and use it to evaluate or respond to the submission. Publication rights require a separate agreement or clear permission.

07

Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the site is provided without guarantees of uninterrupted availability or suitability for a particular purpose. Barnakle is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from reliance on the site. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

08

Governing principles

These terms are governed by applicable laws of Canada and, where relevant, Ontario, without limiting mandatory rights available in a visitor’s jurisdiction. Before public launch, Barnakle should confirm the correct legal operator and dispute provisions with qualified counsel.
